Not by me folks, but my modelling mate Pete Smith - who runs his own blog; however, I thought aspiring Stalwart builders might appreciate it. See here:
A nice in - box review of a much wanted release.
But, sink marks?! In a 2025 kit?! Come on, even Airfix is better than that.
Looks very nice except for the problem areas pointed out by the reviewer. No doubt there will be some AM stuff coming in the future. I’ll be getting one of these I’m sure!
Got mine today and to be fair there is no sinkage, looks like I have one of the good ones👍
There is a thread on Brit Modeller about this kit and thats the least of the kits problems.
Mine has no sink marks so not a standard on all kits
Its just not the sink marks that are the kits problems.
Two hours worth? Jeez. Not too sure I can survive that!
I think I’ll just wait until Pete Smith tackles his; he made good the Dragon Saladin so I’m sure he’ll make good the Stalwart.
I have to say, and I don’t have the kit, but even if it’s not perfect, surely we should be pleased that at long last we now have one in injected form?
I watched a bit of the long video and that was one of the main topics-should a kit realeased in 2025 have so many problems? Their words not mine.
The Brit modeller website has some good photos of the problems. I think what is driving this outcry is that its a much wanted kit and that it seems to be subpar according to some.
No, I get that, but I suspect there’s never a “perfect” kit; perhaps I’m just too merciful, yet glad we’ve got one.
Now I want one to go with my Dragon Saladin!
To add to the chaos ..my kit has non of the so called defects ..I’ve seen a few veterans building this kit and thoroughly enjoying themselves which at the end of the day is what it’s all about .we can all be fanatics about detail etc but that’s what some model builders do some like to build out of the box .it shows that it’s not across the board sink marks etc kit wise also it can always be sorted or replaced by Airfix if unhappy..
So many jumping on the review for numbers bandwagon .
I’ve not pulled the plastic out of the bag on mine, but a quick going over showed no signs of sink marks.
Problem is I don’t like to open the bags until I’m ready to build it in case anything comes loose and drips out the box without me noticing. Oh one bag for all the plastic, so used to each spure having its own bag these days.
