FJ43 pickup. Had to take a break from the Border Merkava.
So far the build is great. Resin wheels really not needed.
Neat little truck there Dan
Thanks, the fit has been great so far and I think the detail is pretty good.

Fooooor you…… Land Cruiser FJ43 z SPG-9- AK Interactive, 1:35 - [M]Warsztat - Modelarstwo plastikowe - Modelwork
I’ve seen that build over at brit modeler and he does a great job on small details! I won’t be doing his level of detailing.
Looks like it is coming along nicely. The added AM parts will make it even better.
Thanks, more of them to come!
I’ve got this figure set and made the driver, not a bad figure and might actually fit with some work.
It’s looking good so far. If you are so inclined, there are definitely some areas that can use some extra detailing. Not sure if you intend to add the the windshield, but the inside needs some detailing. It’s missing some rivets and the roof attachment points, and the sun visors could use some help.
The tailgate is probably the biggest area of concern. The inside panel is of a non-existent pattern, the retaining chains and brackets are missing and the latches are incorrect. The panel is easy to correct with styrene, but the tailgate latches are bit more difficult; I had a friend 3D print some. You can also see the other omission, the jack behind the driver’s seat.
And a few finished photos. Resin tires from Macone:
Great job! I was wondering what went behind the drivers seat and now I know. I’m not sure how deep I’ll go into this kit. I just glued on the tailgate and will see if I can remove it and fix it up.
Thanks
I treated the FJ no different than any of my modeling subjects - I spent a lot of time researching and downloading photos, model years, etc. Out of the box the AK kit represents a 1979-1983 version due to the door style (75-83) and grille style (79-83), with one exception, the fuel door is incorrect as it changed from a vertical opening one in the kit to a horizontal on in 1979 - hard to change so I ignored it and positioned it in the vignette so it’s a bit less noticeable.
The early grille set from Def that you have helps, since now it’s accurate for a vehicle built between 1975 and 1978.
If you are interested in some detail information this site sells original, and reproduction parts and has great drawings. https://www.sor.com/cat/126
Thanks for the info. I think alot of the parts could be replaced with 3D.
I’ve actually had that discussion with AK. A small detail set in 3D printing could easily cover the hood “latches”, the windshield bumpers on the hood (which should be hollow), a more detailed windshield, tailgate latches and securing chains, inside door handles, jack, front grille, etc.
I think that would be a seller.
