Way cool! Would have loved to gone to this place (have lived adjacent to Van Nuys) back in the day!!!

Probably good the diner railroad was not modeled off of the NYC subways, as the vibe would have been much different in the dinner…

These days, there are sushi joints where the diners grab their food off of conveyor belts which run past the tables, so I guess that is something of a more modern (and far less cool) twist…

Started working about 2 blocks north of that address in 1988. I’m sure the diner was probably gone by then. Retired in 2021, working for the same utility company, about 1/2 a mile from there on Van Nuys Blvd. Curious to know what years it was in operation. Photo looks to be from the 50’s

From what I can find, it opened in 1951 and closed in 1962.

I knew a chap who used to install a temporary Garden scale line in his house at Christmas which delivered wine from the kitchen to the lounge in functional tanker wagons. That was before the divorce…
