We are less than 3 weeks away from the AMPS 2024 International Show in South Bend, Indiana, April 11-13, 2024.
Take note as the show is fast approaching!
Hotel Reservations: There are some hotel rooms still available at the AMPS special rate, but they are filling up fast. Simply go online to the AMPS homepage (amps-armor.org) and using one of the 2 hotel links, secure that room before it’s too late and you have to book a room at a hotel further from all the convention action.
Pre-Registration: Folks, AMPS pre-registration is open until April 10th, so visit the AMPS homepage and pre-register all your entries before heading out to South Bend. You do not have to have your entries or your paperwork completed to pre-register. Simply go to the AMPS homepage (amps-armor.org), and fill out the basic information, include how many entries you are bringing and pay on-line. No need to have all the details on all your entries. Just fill it out before leaving for the show and don’t forget to print those forms out. If you’ve never pre-registered before, give it a try; you will like the convenience of filling out all the work you did on each of your entries in the comfort of your own surroundings and not bother with this at the show.
Raffle Donations: If you have any raffle donations for the AMPS show, contact Georg Eyerman through the AMPS site or the AMPS Facebook page and let him know you are bringing donations. The items should be newer condition armor modeling related items like kits, aftermarket items, tools or reference material and something your fellow modelers would like to win. Donations from the always popular AMPS raffle go directly to support the society throughout the year and for future shows.
ATTENTION AMPS Junior Members!
Free Junior Member Sponsorship Entries: The first 5 Junior AMPS members who pre-register for the AMPS International Convention will have their $15 registration fee paid for by AMPS. This registration “scholarship” will run through April 10th, 2024, when pre-registration closes. The scholarship covers the registration to the AMPS 2024 International Convention and all model entries (from 1-18). This scholarship is courtesy of one AMPS member who is unable to attend and decided to pay it forward to a Junior member. A few of the AMPS leadership decided to supplement the idea for another 4 junior members. Come join us at the convention and enjoy all that AMPS has to offer, along with an opportunity to win individual awards and compete for the “Best Junior” entry award. In addition, the Best Junior winner will receive an extra gift; a toolbox equipped with tools essential for building models wherever they go. The first 5 Junior AMPS members who pre-register will be reimbursed their $15 pre-registration fee. Hurry, pre-register soon, before all 5 slots are gone.
On-line Virtual Judges Training: AMPS Chief Judge, Dave Vickers will be hosting 2 on-line virtual Field Judges training sessions; the first is on Saturday, March 30th, from 1:00PM to 2:30PM Eastern Standard Time (EST) and the second will be Wednesday, April 3rd, 7:00PM to 8:30PM, EST. This training is an abbreviated version of the Judges Training Modules contained on the AMPS homepage (amps-armor.org), however, these sessions provide an opportunity to learn the ropes of judging, ask questions of the AMPS Chief Judge, and/or refresh your knowledge if it’s been a while since you judged at an AMPS show. To enroll in the class and get the link to this training, visit the AMPS homepage (amps-armor.org), scroll down to the “Online Field Judges Sessions,” portion and click the link and don’t forget to include your email address.
