Greetings Fellow Armor Modelers,
Yes…that’s right. It’s getting near 50 days before the AMPS 2024 International Convention in South Bend, Indiana, April 11-13, 2024. Show Chairs and behind-the-scenes AMPS members are working away to put on the best AMPS convention ever. Below are a few tips and reminders that will make the AMPS show experience more enjoyable and more time to spend in the vendors area, model display area and, of course, with friends!
A few reminders:
Hotel Accommodations: Hotel reservations for the Doubletree by Hilton and the Courtyard by Marriott can easily be made through the links provided on the AMPS homepage (https://www.amps-armor.org). As we get closer to the show, more people will be securing their reservations, so why not go online and make that reservation today. The hotels have kindly expanded our room block, so get that room before it’s too late.
Pre-registration: Pre-registration is still open and is an excellent time saver, especially at the show. Simply pre-register on-line at the AMPS homepage (https://www.amps-armor.org), and fill out your paperwork in the comfort of your own modeling den. This gives you a chance to carefully look over your entries and list out all the work you put into it, like photo-etched parts, resin upgrades, aftermarket tracks and any scratch-built items like tarps or tow cables. Once complete, print out your forms, bring them to the show and hand your entries and forms to the ramrod…then enjoy the show.
Online Field Judging Sessions: AMPS Chief Judge Dave Vickers will be hosting 2 online field judging sessions via Zoom. The first will be Saturday, March 30th, from 1:00pm to 2:30pm and the second one on Wednesday, April 3rd, from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. Visit the AMPS homepage (https://www.amps-armor.org), find the “Announcements” banner and select the link to contact Dave Vickers under the “Online Field Judging Sessions.” This is a great opportunity to, not only take the course, but ask Dave questions during these sessions.
Category Sponsorships: We are very close to having sponsors for all categories. Sponsorships are a great way to directly support AMPS and the Convention at the same time. Contact Frank Froment, AMPS Marketing Director at the AMPS homepage (https://www.amps-armor.org). Select “The Society” link (on the top), then select “Contact the AMPS Executive Board” and click on the link for Frank Froment and he will let you know what’s left
Seminar Topics and Speakers: Show planners are finalizing the list of seminar topics and speakers and it will be posted shortly. The preliminary list looks quite impressive along with the seminar presenters. Stay tuned for more information.
Raffle Donations: Raffle donations are still being accepted. Donations are placed directly into the ever legendary “AMPS raffle” and if you’ve ever seen the AMPS raffle table, you know there’s always something for everyone and sometimes a few very cool surprises. Donations of any items (kits, aftermarket, tools, research material) should be in like-new condition. Think in terms of something you might like to win at the raffle.
