AMPS members, please read and heed. The message below from AMPS Chief Judge Dave Vickers is advising all those who have received judge’s training in the past, including AMPS certified judges and those who will be Field Judges at AMPS 2026, South Bend, to make time to receive judge’s training, either at the on-line training (see below) or at the convention, now that the AMPS working group for judging is complete.
It is very important to complete this training as it will impact entries at the 2026 show and going forward. Having as many taking the updated judge’s training as possible will minimize confusion and allow things to run more smoothly. Eventually, all those who plan to judge will need to take this updated training. Below are 2 opportunities to receive this training
via Zoom well before the show; however, if you are unavailable to take either of these on-line training sessions, there will be opportunities at the show but, why wait.

Online Field Judging Sessions
Hello, fellow AMPS members. David Vickers, AMPS Chief Judge, here.
Following the 2025 International Convention, several working groups have been formed to discuss improving AMPS judging and the accompanying training. I am asking all AMPS judges and anyone interested in becoming a judge to please retake or complete the AMPS field judge training. Everyone needs to complete the new training to level the playing field and ensure everyone has the latest understanding of judging and the recent changes approved by the AMPS Executive Board.
We are offering two Zoom sessions before the 2026 International Convention and also several opportunities during the convention. For the Zoom sessions, I will conduct field judge training on the following dates and times.
Friday, 20 March, 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM EST
Saturday, 21 March, 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM EST.
To participate, please email info@amps-armor.org with the subject line “AMPS field judge training” and which training session you want to attend. We’ll then email you the Zoom link.
If you can’t participate in one of those, please complete the training during the convention. You can check the times for the field judge training on the show site.
We have an outstanding organization, and I thank each of you for making each show a great experience.
