River rock. If it had been muddy I’d still be stuck there.
I’d have a compound built by now.
Hahahahaha!! I’d visit you!!
BTW, what do you think about this kit: http://www.mmk.cz/en/models/detail/106
I have to look for one, and I just find the Meng kit with the ZSU gun in the back.
Probably pebbles, mostly!?
Nice kit. And so is Meng. Just realize that niether is 100% correct for uSSF, but it’s the closest you can get to a Tacoma. Our AMF (Afghan Militia Forces) used the Hilux though.
AMF with Hilux:
My gun truck based on ther Tacoma.:
If you load it right and add all the mods to the Hilux you can come close.
Nacho,
I promise you your video is coming. But in the meantime here is proof that rivers were indeed used for travel.
I had to make the video in two parts and leave out a lot of it.
Part one is spooling up. I was actually in charge of this:. We even had an Apache escort. How cool is that?
Second part is target acquired. I couldn’t keep filming for obvious reasons…
I spot a Puerto Rican flag on the Blackhawk… Typical “Boricua” (like me ). Gotta have the mini flag hanging on every car you own (or drive).
Found it!
Led this one as well, as you’ll see. If you missed the videos a few posts up, don’t forget to have a look.
A quick background:
Guy came onto our firebase and said a car came to his repair shop with 107mm rockets in the back. There were only three of my team members left. The rest had gone back to Kabul, but I stayed behind with my AMFguys.
You will actually recognize one or two from this set:
So I submitted a Five W’s CONOP to the base commander and we were rolling three minutes later.
At one point I say, “Reason number ten…” I was doing a top ten list of why it’s cool to be an SF dude in Afghanistan.
See the aftermath tomorrow.
Thanks for the pictures and videos! You had a great time there, for sure.
I coudn’t find any Tacoma in 1/35, but I found this: https://www.super-hobby.es/products/Pick-up-US-special-forces-accessories-set-for-Meng-Models.html
It’s an addon fot the Meng kit, and maybe you approve that…
New addon in the mountain. As Robin said, I have made the sloped height at the top. As this is how it looks now.
The right side is still raw, just made the shape. The left side is almost done, just some cyano and cut the excess of foam in the border.
One thing I would like to ask you. In the right side, I have made 3 ‘heights’ and 2 in the left side. Do you think that I should make both creeks at the same level or different heights?
Regards!
Is my vote but I am ok if you like the same.
Different heights would look more aesthetically pleasing.
I’ve got another video where we drove through an area like that - it was a switchback. We were passing our own vehicles going the other way. I was on the gun on the Tacoma. Right as I said “This would make a really good site for an ambush,” a pair of Apaches flew overhead and started providing us cover for the next hour or two.
I’ll just start sending the videos directly to you. I don’t want to hijack your thread with my stuff.
WHAT!?
and leave the rest of us hanging??
What @Tank_1812 & @18bravo said
What? TWO of you? I’ll CC you on the email! It takes time to upload these things onto Youtube. And I have to do it without my twenty year old daughter’s help.
Just post them here, when they are on YouTube anyway. This is not hi jacking, these are inspirational videos…
I think you misunderstood. I only post them on Youtube as a way to post them here. Maybe if I actually read the intructions that came with the video camera I could put them directly on my computer, and then here. They are listed as private on Youtube. No one else sees them except for you few guys.
hm… Mailing videos is not really an option either: they will generally waay too large!
They’re not too large. I make a video on my phone from the image on a monitor hooked up to the camera. Then I email it to myself and post the downloaded video to Youtube. If anyone knows an easier way…
That greatly depends on the camera. What interface is present and what your computer has…
Sorry. I cannot approve it. Where does the gunner stand? The fifty Tacomas that SOCOM purchased for Afghanistan all came outfitted the same way - steel tread plate over the wheel wells, with probably 16 gauge sheet metal holders - designed for two five gallon cans (water or fuel) on each side. We’d run a cargo strap between thehandles on the rear set of cans for the gunner to sit on if he desired. I never did. I preferred standing. Over time, ODA’s may have altered that setup, and indeed we’d put extra fuel in the back at times, but no matter have much gear you had, there had to be a place for the gunner to fight.
