Another NOT ODG or NATO Green Abrams

Bright sun, loading for the P-rade to celebrate the 250th Birthday of the US Army. Interesting.

I never saw this color. I thought US armor had only NATO tri color and desert camo.

In the above photo it almost looks like the old MERDC Forest Green, FS 34079 when it’s fresh/new

Indeed.
The big difference in lighting conditions is quite sufficient to change the appearance of the colour.

It looks like Forest Green to me.

I’ve seen it called Bronze Green on Abrams and Bradley systems. Hard to tell.

I have seen the newer color side by side with the older color, In the lab plates where they formulate it. The newer color is more olive than the older Forest green or NATO green. Both colors will be in use, and as has been noted in some cases mixed on different components on the same vehicle. The 2d picture above also harkens to the old Testors Helo Drab (which was a great color)

The biggest change, imo, is the two-tone nature of the scheme. This appears primarily confined to horizontal vs vertical surfaces.

Almost like an old school Navy Measure x scheme.

I’d read that, but have no personal insight about the application. Th picture I posted “seems” to be monochrome. But it is a parade, after all!

The two tone makes some sense. The vertical looks darker the horizontal looks brighter. In a tree line you want darker not brighter. From above you want brighter (grass like) not darker. Who knows. Maybe the darker has a different set of properties than just color. Maybe absorbs Lazer energy better making it difficult to range accurately? Again, just guessing
