Yep, I canā€™t believe Airfix just re-released as a Vintage Classic their 1/72 Hampden. Tooling from 1968ā€¦ Surely thereā€™s a new tool in the pipeline especially given P1344 is under restorationā€¦:thinking:

As afar as I am aware it is out of production and I have heard it has a number of pretty major fit issues

Yes, there were quite a few complaints about Kitty Hawk Models regarding the poor fitting of parts and the overall quality of their kits suffering from fit issues. Probabaly also the reason why they went bust.

but I have the voodoo and it seems to be pretty decent.

Have you built it yet? I would be curious to hear your take on the fit, as sometimes online reviews over state the issues?

My understanding is that there is a fairly significant step between the forward and aft fuselage

That would be an ultimate kit.
One to hang from the ceiling for sure!

Maybe my wants are not too obscure:

  1. 1/48 Horton IX V.2 - the one that flew!!
  2. 1/48 B-58 with gentle recessed panels
  3. 1/32 F4U-4 Corsair (no Trumpeter)
  4. 1/32 F4U-7 ā€œ
  5. 1/32 AU-1
  6. 1/72 PB4Y-2
  7. 1/72 F-105 (get it right; no Trumpeter)
  8. 1/72 AJ-2 Savage. (who wanted -1
    anyway?)
  9. Ok, dream, go big: 1/32 B-58!
  10. Finally, a correct P-40B in 1/72 and 1/48
    scale please!
    No panel line channels! Get the outline
    and cockpit right!!! Get the wing guns the
    right .303s!!

Itā€™s well past time for a 1:35 CH 46 Sea Knight, preferably one from the late 60ā€™s early 70ā€™s but a later version would be nice as well.

Iā€™ve started, and so far it is not that bad; I think it is very important to dry fit everything (as it is for every kit) and to anticipate problems. For instance, a poorly fitting front and aft section can be easily resolved with a tiny ā€œwedgeā€ between fuselage halves.

like with so many kits I started but not finished. the reason is that it is very difficult where I live to aibrush for any lenght of time because I canā€™t get a window openā€¦ leading to the house filling with fumesā€¦ and somebody doesnā€™t like that :slight_smile:

However, I am retired now, and building a table top airbrush booth that will clean the air with an active carbon filter. This should solve the problem forever :slight_smile:

How about a new line of Grumman S-2 Trackers in 1/72? Sort of thing I feel Special Hobby could do a really good job with.
