So, 2024 is almost over and we had a great year with modelkits, right?
Any wishes and dreams-come-true from the manufacturers for 2025?
Mine would be a “stoof with a roof”:
E-1 Tracker in 1:48.
With any luck, Airfix follow up the B-24H with a D.
Also hoping ICM scale down their 1/48 Marauder and Invader to 1/72. Wishful thinking maybe.
We could still use a new F-4B/N in 1/72. Don’t mind by who as long as it’s good.
I hope for more 1/35 scale, fixed wing aircraft, released at a pace allowing me to keep up. Three or 4 a year would be perfect. Almost all my favorite aircraft are Cold War American machines so a 1/35 scale F-100 Super Sabre would top my list. It will be a miracle if that actually happens.
I do not need open bays, full engines, or separate control surfaces. Those are just a bother.
I would welcome a new F-101 Voodoo and a modern S-3 Viking, both in 1/48
Wishing?

HMS Repulse
HMS Electra
HMS Tiger
HMS Lion

USS Enterprise (CV6)
@Reaper2020 and @Armor_Buff I think he is looking for aircraft since this is in the Aircraft Forum. There is another one in the General Discussions Forum for all kits you want.
Thanks, you’re right, I didn’t get past wishes but at least one is an aircraft carrier wink
Aircraft that’s more difficult…delta wings for sure…
1/48 - F106 Delta Dart
1/48 - XB70 Valkyrie
1/48 - B58 Hustler
1:48 Heinkel He-177
1:48 Boeing B-29 Superfortress
1:48 Arado AR234
1:48 Mil Mi-28N
Cut prices by 20%.
More Italian planes in 1/32 and not absurdly priced like Italeri.
It was a mistake.
I had long hoped for new tooling for the following in 1/72 from Airfix, but it seems that they’ve gone off plantation and only consider these things in 1/48 these days (BOO!), so if any other manufacturers are listening/reading this, please, consider the following in new tool, injection molded kits (and I don’t mean short run/resin, hard to get, more expensive than titanium etc, blah blah, blahdy dahs)
- Supermarine Walrus
- Westland Lysander (The Dora wings kit has been hard to get here in Oz and is a known difficult build…)
Perhaps Special Hobby will come to the rescue?
It would also be nice to see the 1/350 Nelson/Rodney kit materialize from Dragon within this lifetime
At some point some 1/350 RN flat tops in styrene too…
My two dimes (we no longer have pennies in here) into the wishing well :
- Wheels up option
- Some kits without all the open panels, etc. Would also cost less… just sayin’.
If you’ve the space/time for 1/32 it seems Kotare are taking this route with their kits… less removable panels etc, to keep costs within Joe Average’s budgets…
I second that. Talking about Airfix, another wish of mine is for them to stop making silly mistakes. Case in point being the recent reboxing of the Beaufort Mk1a. While the new turret is nice, they should have included Brownings to arm it with (likewise in the Blenheim. Airfix seem to have a fixation with the Vickers K) and underwing radar antenna. The Ceylon based Beaufort should also have forward firing guns in the nose. While the guns are fairly easy fixes, the radar could prove tricky to make. With any luck someone will make a set, but it’s more cost to fix a mistake Airfix should not have made in the first place.
I found these errors quite quickly in the Warpaint Beaufort book. Not a difficult to find reference, so what was Airfix’s excuse?
I hear ya Stephen…
Problem is, like with all companies, Airfix are understaffed…
Wouldn’t surprise me. Still, couldn’t hurt them to pick up a book. It’s just annoying that make them so frequently.
Easier to change scale to 1/350… most of those kits are available in that scale…
1/72 Vickers Vedette.
I can dream.
Cheers,
Colin
