Arma Hobbies new releases

I see where (some) Arma Hobbies latest 1/72 releases seem to have PE details replaced with an STL file for printing out details. No more PE?? What of those of us who are not 3D printing-literate? Forget about Arma Hobbies, or just wait and see if some company ever releases relevant PE? :rage:

Usually Eduard release PE and 3D printed parts for Arma kits.

Slightly confused by your post. Are you saying the STL file, which would enable 3D resin parts to be printed (assuming you had access to a printer) are replacing the brass photo etch parts? That doesnā€™t sound feasible.

Well, I read the kit contents and none of the versions mention included PE (although they still have painting masks), but some versions contain the STL files for detail parts. Doesnā€™t say if there are alternate injected-mould parts to replace any printed parts, but I would certainly wait for reviews before buying one of these kits!

Can you identify which ones?

I just looked at one of the 2024 Hurricanes and it comes WITH 3D printed parts not STL files.

Didnā€™t Arma used to include PE in their ā€œDeluxeā€ kits? Maybe the PE was produced by Eduard.

any kit that doesnā€™t have PE gets my vote, bloody hate the stuff

The announcement came in my email. it is a Nakajima Ki-43 Hayabusi. It is only available by pre-order so far. I think alternate sprues containing styrene parts are included in one version of the kit, and an STL file included in others - you just to be careful which version you are ordering. But neither versions mention inclusion of any PE.
OKā€¦there are options for included printed parts, or for a free down-loadable file for printing your own, or styrene parts, depending on your preferences. But still no mention of PE.

Seems to be the way things are going now days , pay more get less .

Up until now there has always been the full set of styrene parts needed to complete the build in all of Armaā€™s kits. PE or 3D-prints are extra goodies, they do of course improve the kit but they are by no means necessary.

There are sprue drawings here: 70078 Nakajima Ki-43 II Hayabusa.| Sklep modelarski Arma Hobby where you can clearly see that exhausts and pilotā€™s seat (the more prominent parts of the 3D-print) are included on the sprues in ordinary plastic as well. If you want that extra refinement you can order the kit with the 3D-print extras from Arma (I love their seats with integrated belts and has always gone for this option when it has been available) or get the file for free and print them yourself if you have a printer (I donā€™t so I always order the 3D with my Arma kits).

I would buy with confidence (which I have already done on pre-order  ), Iā€™ll let you all know when I have the kit in my hands! Arma is on the top of my list when it comes to quality kits in 1/72 together with Eduard and the latest IBG-kits, I donā€™t expect the Hayabusa to be anything less!
