Oohhh! I just love this type of weird and wonderful vehicles.

" In 1971, production of three-wheeled cars stopped, and the company switched to production of a four-wheeler, the “Model 435-0”, which featured the Jawa 350 type 572 - 04 engine. Problems in design and manufacturing, as well as the inability to compete with higher-category cars (including the cheap Trabants), made the four-wheeler a commercial failure, and its production was stopped in 1973."

“higher-category cars (including the cheap Trabants)”
:+1:
You really know your place in the relative hierarchy or luxury cars when a Trabant is higher up the ladder than yourself.

Shiver in fear ye Maseratis, Lamborghinis, Ferraris and other toys for the rich because here I come, packing a whopping handful of horsepowers. I’ll chase y’all down the highways at the lightning speeds of 30 km/h (18.64 mph)

For reference, the Trabant could reach a whopping 105 km/h (65 mph), 3.5 times faster than the Velorex 3-wheeler, the four wheel Trabant killer could hit 80 km/h (49.7 mph)
so it was only 25 km/h (15.5 mph) slower than the Trabant.

I’m sure the Velorex at 30mph was at least as thrilling/scary as the Trabant at 65, or the Italian sportscars at 150!

Ordered some goodies from ASK last week(lead wires) and stopped shy of ordering the Velorex…

I’ve seen many being driven around in my childhood. In PR of Bulgaria they were only sold to amputees and had different rigging for missing hand or foot.

One Jawa Veloreks (this was their designation here back then) won the Best Prize in an Oldtimer Show in Haskovo some time ago:

They pulled him over since he was going to slow, being a mobile obstacle to other road users.

I’m positive that Clarkson once did a piece on this on an old Top Gear.

The top picture with Clarkson looks familiar. Must try and try and keep a lookout for that episode. They repeat them all the time!
The 97 clip is way before I started watching it. Interesting piece though, wonder how many of those are still running nearly 30 years on?

Welcome to Armorama, Peter!

I see a PAV trailer in your photos.

Is there a model kit of it, or is it scratchbuilt?

Cheers,
Angel
