About floor acrylics. Can we reuse floor acrylics after first usage? If so, is there a specific treatment how to keep it at its’ best condition after its’ first usage (e.g. should be keep in chiller, cap it thight preventing bubbles, etc, etc.)
About painting canopies. Is it still necessary to paint the inside canopy frame after we finish painting the outside part?
Sorry for possibilities of double question, cheers
Do you mean if say you pour the polish in bowl and dip your canopy, what to do with the left over polish in the bowl? Pour it back into the bottle. If something else please explain more of your process.
Up to you as it’s your model for your enjoyment. That said, if your goal is to compete and win contests then I would say it’s probably still preferred. I think scale and type of aircraft can dictate if necessary.
Yes, exactly as you said. Just a little bit worry in my mind regarding to the quality of the unused portion, if I poured back into the bottle, will it affected after quite some time?
I would need to go digging for it, since I didn’t keep a bookmark, but I watched a video from, IIRC, Fine Scale Modeler on using Pledge or its successors to dip canopies – the presenter filled a jar with it, dipped the canopy, then explained as he did it that you just pour the excess back into the container it came from for the next time.
Concerning question #2: This is for painting with an airbrush and masking. Mask off the canopy frame neatly, and completely mask the interior canopy to prevent any over-spray from getting there. First spray the frame interior color - DON’T remove mask. When dry, spray the exterior color(s) over the previous color. When dry, unmask. The interior color, even though sprayed on the outside, will be visible on the inside. From the outside, only the exterior color will be visible. All this should be done after dipping the canopy in Future, and letting thoroughly dry.
That is an effective strategy what can work. There is limitations depending on scale, canopy type and if said canopy is open or closed. For example a 1/32 open canopy F4U, it will not work as well as on a 1/48 closed canopy F4U. Again modelers choice.
