Aussie escort. Iraq diorama

Hi fellow modellers, I am working on a diorama based on a task we did whilst I was deployed in southern Iraq in ‘06,’07. I have been working on it for a couple of months and plan to have it ready for the QLD Model Hobbies Expo later this year. Here are some pics of the work so far

Great Project! :star_struck:

Welcome to the forum! You’re gonna like it here. Nice job on the vehicle!

So to set the scene, we did escort of a couple of large generators from the Kuwait border to An Nasiriyah. Along the way we had to wait for civilian contractors to raise the power lines with wooden poles so they would fit under them.

Can you tell me more about the crane/lift, is that a stock kit or scratched?

I’m really hoping he says scratched because if so, thats bloody impressive

It’s a win either way for us. We get to see some awesome scratch building or another interesting kit.

The crane/lift is actually a die cast model. I couldn’t find anything in kit form to suit and I saw this at my local hobby store. It’s not quite scale but close enough and I just modified the basket to fit the reference pictures I had.
