Australian Centurion Tank Color

I have the kit, and I noticed (and have read) that the tank color is actually a lighter green than the British version, so I would like to know more.

Centurions in the UK and as delivered to Australia were Deep Bronze Green. In 1967 the Australian Army had the Centurions repainted in a specific paint - Australian Olive Drab Lusterless. A colour very close to the old Humbrol Authentic Colour ‘French Artillery Green’.

You can get the colour from SMS Paints:

Other close choices are:
AK 4021 OD Lusterless
Lifecolour UA 224 Faded OD Type 2
Gunze H303

If you do any form of filter/wash/weathering, you will change the base colour anyway, so exact matches will be moot.

As petbat said, Humbrol French artillery green was an excellent match, I compared with the actual paint (I have a 1 litre tin of pre 2000s paint). I started to run low on art. green and I searched for another option and I came across Mr Color 304 this is equivalent to FS34087 and this matches French Art. Green very well and would be ideal for Vietnam era vehicle. There is scant information on Aust. Lustreless Olive drab but for colour reference the first picture is of a t50 turret

and this is my M113 painted with Mr Color 304

I reckon this is a great match Mr Color has that slight brownish under tone.

I have found that the SMS paint is an excellent match for more modern Aust vehicles, M1A1, M113AS4 etc as the colour is more greenish than brownish and when I have compared the SMS paint to the spec it matches perfectly and when I move back to Oz I will finally start my M113AS4 and use the SMS paints.
An organisation in Aust is a research group called the CSIRO and they run a program called The Australian Paint Approval Scheme this standardises paints, the earliest date I can find on modern paint specs is from 2006 in a document called Australian Paint Approval Scheme - Specification 0154 (punch it in to google and you will get the results for 2021 and 2022 but I have a copy of the 2006 and there is no significant change within the documents) this states the following colours are to be used on Aust. vehicles: Camouflage Green FS34088, Camouflage Brown 30219, Camouflage Black 37038, Pilbara Brown 30109 and Off White 37875.
