Russia’s ‘dandelion’ tank armour might just work

That’s what a sabot round is for.

What if the drone was carrying a RC tank. Land in front and crawl under before exploding?

In Space Battleship Yamato, the Yamato has a weapon system called the anti-missile missile. It consists of about 10 launchers that shoot out short range missiles. When a missile explodes, it creates a persistent energy field that looks like the spokes of a wagon wheel. Many of these weapons fire at once, creating an energy net. As enemy missiles approach the field, they almost always hit one of the energy spokes, are cut apart, and explode. The system essentially works exactly like the bar armor on that Russian tank.

The anti-missile missile system used by the Space Battleship Yamato are based on a real weapon system used by the real Battleship Yamato, called the San-shiki-dan. The Japanese even developed anti-aircraft shells of this type for their 18 inch guns. The idea was to create a persistent net of garbage that hangs in the air and wrecks any plane that flies through it. The Japanese could not make it work. Large caliber guns, especially 18 inch guns, fire too slowly and the garbage net fell out of the sky too quickly.

Bailing out (or even getting in) looks to be a challenge! Not to mention the devastation of driving through woods, or too near a column of friendlies.
