Battlestar Galactica "War of the Gods" display

Finally mounted my Majestic Studio’s '05 Wizard World Philadelphia BSG action figure set. Only 500 were produced. The wall mounted display has motion sensor light and music/sound effects from the show. I’m in the process of finishing a “Being of Light” to add in the display case.

Wow this is both cool and ironic. By ironic I mean I just watched this episode last week as i bought the full season to watch with my daugher (7th grader). She is actually enjoying it. I was very young when the series came out so never got a chance to buy or build a model kit. Could you recommend the best kit for the viper and cylon fighter that i could pickup. Please keep us posted!

Thanks for the feedback!

Moebius made some really nice kits for both TOS & reboot. I recommend browsing eBay.

Hey, Jack. For the Being of Light, did you use a PLA printer or a Resin printer?

Your display makes me want to finally finish my AWACS Viper conversion.

Hey Doug,
The seraph was printed in PLA, and it was a mess! This figure’s torso and head are all one piece, and was pushing the limits of FDM printing. The layers around the face and top of the head sort of fell apart once I started cleaning up the supports. The top of the head actually fell off lol. I was too cheap to do it in Resin.

Whoa. That sort of thing seems to happen distressingly often with PLA printers. After seeing a few burned out PLA printers on YouTube, I started looking at resin printers. :flushed:

Have you ever printed something like a Viper or some random spaceship? I watch a lot of YouTube videos on 3D printing but cannot decide how to proceed. One concern with PLA is that it will break down over time.

Do you plan on expanding your Battlestar Galactica display? A few days ago, I saw a shadow box with some jets posed like they were flying at the viewer. It very strongly reminded me of the picture behind your display. It would be neat to build a shadow box with a flight of Vipers flying at the viewer.

Well to be fair I was pushing the limit on PLA  Don’t worry about models printed in PLA. It would have to be in very harsh conditions like direct sunlight, heat and moisture to cause any real issues. A sealed ship sitting on the shelf will last longer than you & I!

I’ve got another tentative version designed for “Villains” but I want to finish up couple ships before that one.

The shadowbox idea sounds pretty cool too.
