I have the old Panda M-ATV kit in stash. Yesterday a saw a real one that I might build someday.
Which kit will be the best start for such a build?

I am currently building the Panda kit and it takes a lot of effort and patience to build but it does look good once you start getting it together. I also have the RFM M-ATV and ILK SOCOM M-ATV. I haven’t started the RFM kit yet but the ILK goes together a lot better than the Panda kit does.
You don’t build the Panda MATV, you beat it into submission
If I was in the market for a 1/35 M-ATV, I’d go for the RFM kit. I say that because whilst I haven’t built any of the 1/35 kits, I have built RFM’s 1/48 scale M-ATV which I really enjoyed and was still large enough to comfortably add extra detail. I would assume their larger option is very similar in terms of quality and parts breakdown.

I built both the old Panda and the M1240 RFM kits.
Definitely the RFM is much much better than the Panda.
Here you can find my construction history for both the models.

Best is subjective. The Vajra resin kit was a pretty damned good kit.
