I wasn’t happy with the kits clear external fuel pipe as I think the clear part was a tad too close to the edge.
So I made a couple more,one from stretched sprue and one from brass tubing but couldn’t get a convincing bend.
Left one original part, centre brass, right stretched sprue.
The brass one I added 2 thicker tubes to resemble the rubber piping.
Which one looks the best?
Not sure what it’s supposed to look like but the stretched sprue does look good.

I think if you use the stretched sprue and the rubber bands you did on the brass version it would look great.
So, it could get very hot suddenly in combat, if the bullet hit this fuel line, spraying fuel throughout the cockpit.
Cut out the brass tube section where the masking tape is.
Replace with a bit of the clear sprue in. Would look best I feel.
You could extent the larger diameter tube a little to give you a recess to seat the clear sprue in to provide better structural support for the joins.

I always wondered what that ‘pipe’ was in the 109 cockpit. Every time I’ve seen one in a kit, I assumed it was trunking for electric cables.
I always thought the 109 had the most cramped looking of all WW2 fighter cockpits. And now I know it had another nasty little feature.
