BF109F air intake question

I have Hasegawa’s BF 109F trop model in 1/32nd scale. I want to make the non-tropical version and want the air intake without the tropical filter. What do I need to do? Can I use part of the tropical intake? Is the intake scoop a different size? What does the opening of the air intake scoop look like? Thoughts on changing/ modifying the scoop or filter?

Hello!
I’m not a Bf109 expert, but his one looks pretty easy…

Here’s how an unfiltered intake looks like:

And the Troppenfilter was an add on - in real life and as it turns out, in the model too. If you look at the instructions you see this:

So basically if you leave the Y-Parts off you’re almost good to go. Thing is on un-troped F variants Hasegawa includes the F-fret istead of the G-fret, so you will probably round the edges of the intake a little to have a 1:1 match, but it should be doable.

Good luck with it and have a nice day

Greg, just what Pawel said. The sand filter is an extra which was mounted at the air intake. This are my recent Eduard “Friedrichs”, Black 7 is a F-2, while Yellow 14 is a F-4

On the real aircraft, was there a 90 degree tube that went into the side of the fuselage that was covered with a fairing or was it just the fairing with a hole in the side of the fuselage? I ask because at 1/32 you could see inside the scoop and could tell if there was an opening to the fuselage.

I would simply leave off the trop filter part and you will be good to go

What is there to say other than “perfect”.

This view is a bit clearer (the pictured aircraft is a G but I guess it doesn’t matter much  )

Outstanding. A hole in the fuselage it will be.
