Yesterday I found a picture I haven’t seen before.
I think I will go for a copy of the real building. This will make the base wider.
The area in the red marking will be made.
Cheers

Reminds me of a bridge in Bosnia, in a large border village called Martin Brod, when we were there we had to patrol there and check on an old granny who lived alone in the village (village was abandoned during the war) and we swam near the bridge in the summer when it was warmer, and we eventually noticed loads of small black and green disk shaped things lying underwater (about 10 - 15 ft below surface and the water was from the mountains and crystal clear) by the base of the bridge supports so, squaddies being squaddies we dived down to see what they were, and lo and behold, they were Anti Personnel mines lol, PMA 1 and 2s I think and about 30 to 40 of them … needless to say, we didnt swim there any more lol

Ops, John, I am glad to hear nobody was injured. Take care.

Modelling that is going to be very impressive Erik, :+1: :slightly_smiling_face:, looking forward to this one and, if I’m being honest, I wish I’d found those images, water, rock and stonework, it would make a challenging but fun build methinks, :slightly_smiling_face:.

Fantastic inspiration and a great scene to build. Very dramatic with the drop off to the water below.

I tried to make a little more advanced mock up than the one in paper. This prototype is smaller than the one I hope to build.
I do it as a practice to make a mock up:)
I have an idea in my head of doing a battle scene with knights. I have bought some knights in white metal, I go for a try I thought.
It ended up as an chaotic scene with a bridge full of fighting dark ages soldiers. The idea is that the colorful soldiers pop out from the grey bridge and grey building.
Under the bridge will be dirty water, and one corp laying on the ground.
Well, it feels good to have done this mock up, in a way I got the idea out of my head and made space for more crazy things to plan.
Please say what you think of this scenario.

We don’t see many knight diorama here so I like it. Not sure how I feel about the horse but it’s an interesting add. The players are difficult to sort out because of the metal but wondering how one advances around others in that small area. Look forward to seeing how this processes.

Thanks Ryan! The point is to make an extra chaotic scene. I like the horse because it pop out and are higher than the humans. I think it gives a dramatic feeling.
Well this is just a first step. For sure I will buy some more knights in fighting mode.

Nice idea Erik, and a very unusual one for the armoured forum :wink: … However, Knights and their steeds were armoured in their own way so I reckon you can cheek it
I like the way it looks… I actually like and get the concept of the narrow foot bridge and how hard the fight would be … And as Ryan mentioned it, the problem of moving around people isn’t really an issue… In those close confine the leading elements would cut, hack and smash their way through … Or die trying…
I think it does need the colour of the Knights to bring it all to life contrasting with the drab stonework … Did you think about long banners hanging from the battlements ?
The mounted knight is nice visually and gives it another level…god knows how they fought on horseback with those swords, I found it hard enough with just a lightweight ceremonial cavalry sword in one hand and the reins in the other riding in straight lines with a few turns lol…
Does the foot bridge go all the way across to the edge of the dio base ? Looking forward to seeing this one build up :+1:

Thanks John! I use this forum for all my dioramas, armored or not:) Actually the knights are armored
Yes the bridge go all the way to the edge of the base.
And yes, there will be a lot of details as flags etc to pop out.
Update will follow. /Erik

Hello Erik ! I have not followed here for a while because my construction season is over until October. As usual, these are fantastic scenes you do. I try to read here sometimes but will travel until October. Good luck / Micke

Thanks Micke! Have a great summer, and I am sure you will have a lot of good diorama ideas in your mind when you get back home. Take care!

Damn it’s fun to do mock-ups. There are 3 dioramas that I especially like made by John Rosengrant, Marjin Van Gils and Dan Capuano.
You have seen them of cours, anyway, I made a mockup that is strongly inspired by these 3 dioramas.

My version is in 1/72. The M20 is not totally built yet, I must paint the interior before adding the final parts.
Figures are all except for the Americans, made by Caesar. I chose to show the pictures in black & white, in that way you don’t have to see the pink styrofoam.
I hope you like the set up.
Have a nice weekend everyone! /Erik

Very nice Erik and a great way to pop back into the threads, your brilliant ideas and skills have been missed. This would make a great winter scene. The whole scene has great balance… I think the pistol pointing G.I could be on a suicide mission… The odds are stacked against him :see_no_evil:

Thanks John! Well after seeing his best friend got killed by the Germans down the river, Joe don’t give a sh…it anymore.
The title could be like: “Suicide Joe” Ardennes 1944.
In the end he will hardly be visible because of trees and bushes.
Anyway, I have a feeling that this will be an interesting dio to build up. Cheers.

I added some figures on the top of the Jagdpanther and made some other small changes.
I don’t know what you think, but I like the figure set on the tank.
Cheers
PS This gives Joe some really juicy targets for his pistol.

I think all figures look good and when you look at each one, they are focused or interacting with at least one or several.

Agreed.
I would, at your discretion Erik, place the officer on the tank, that way he will be more commanding, have a better field of view, and be a better target for Joe
