British Army Terrier. 1/35 scale

Back in late June I took delivery of Osiris models 3D printed Terrier ..billed as exclusive to them and an accurate representation of the real thing..
The model duly arrived and what a disappointment……It was immediately obvious that things were not correct not even nearly.after contacting the company to point out things it was agreed to reprint the main body main issues were the crew stations way too small and several other issues..having spent a lot of money on the kit I decided the only thing todo was to rebuild it to try and make a better representation of the original.

I take it you got the 1/35 ? When people were talking about them a few months, I was very sceptical then that they would up scale well from 1/72 … ! spent along time looking at the CVRT range and Challengers in 1/35 renditions, and on each one there were just a multitude of issues that would have to corrected to make them work. Sorry you had to be the guinea pig for this scale Terry. I hope it doesnt become a nightmare.

Indeed mate it’s certainly got issues..as you say a lot of the stuff from land rovers and other stuff just doesn’t scale up well..this model has got a lot ..fortunately I’m well under way with it and we’ll time will tell

Good luck with it Terry; I have to say, that sometimes, I actually like a challenge - trying to get something half-decent from something that is well, lacking shall we say. Sometimes.

A few years back I was walking our dog on the Plain, when this trundled past, which I’m pretty sure is one and the same - I’m a bit behind on what amoured Sapper kit is what these days, anyway, for what they’re worth:

I’ll certainly be watching what you do with it.

So the picture from the company..time and time again with 3D companies you get the cad renders not a picture of what actually available..

The front area alarm bell started to ring ..

Nice pics, I used to live in Upavon for my last five years in service so saw a lot of kit trundling about on my running routes on the plain. I agree with you to some extent on liking a challenge with kits but if a kit is expensive, which I imagine this one was I’d be very miffed to find major issues. My BTR80A was £15 from a bargain bin at a show so I wasn’t that bothered about it’s inaccuracies and was willing to throw a little money at it. I see Osiris Models web page is shut also!

My last post was in Upavon too; I was Staff Asst to the DComd a TA Brigadier - 2iC to the Maj Gen heading up the ARTD. I packed it all in around 12 years ago ie 2013.

There always seems to be something interesting out on the Plain; a couple of months back I found myself surrounded by around half a dozen Ajax, with a couple of Panthers in support. It certainly freshens up a dog walk!

It’s certainly a small world. You would have been in the main building upstairs I assume? I was in the portacabin set up just outside the back of the building opposite the IHAT building. I lived unaccompanied in the mess annex and left in Feb 2013.

It is isn’t it? I was welfare officer for 2 MI Bn for a brief while, then picked up the ARTD job in Apr 13 (I think), but only for around 6 months, so probably unlikely our paths crossed, however, all hail to Armorama, even if only for enabling the coincidence factor!

Indeed £140 was to much to throw away….

Very much so, and it’s the only game in town so it has to be salvaged if it can be. I’m sure you will turn it around.

That breaks my heart … At least they got the tracks the right way round on that, all the CVRT ones were back to front … (one of the many issues)

The tracks on this have an issue but more on that later ..
So hatches the hatches and crew stations are an obvious and large feature on this vehicle.

Rough size compared to what’s provided.

Watching this with great interest :+1:

Working through the hatch area made a start but wasn’t happy so started again ..and turned my attention to the carrier rails on the rear . They are on the vehicle but as anticipated they are wrong so removed and out with the plastic card .

The rails are sneakily complex the rear portion is designed to swing outward to accommodate the clear lane markers in the mine clearing role
