This is a build of a rare 1:24th scale resin kit by KFS in Birmingham, UK. After just finishing up one of their Militant kits, it’s time to have a go at their Matador. Well designed and manufactured, this unique British kit is a fine tribute to one of my favorite British trucks ~ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AEC_Matador
Here is a picture of the real subject and a few kit photos ~ this is a multimedia kit, high quality cast resin parts, cast white metal and sheets of brass photo etched parts…the 2nd pic is the Militant just finished by the same manufacturer.
Looking forward to this, as you say great kits.
Loving this - watching with interest!
Fascinating build .
Some more progress on the 1:24th British gun tractor, the kit comes with many well cast white metal parts. Though the metal parts are well done, they are put through a polisher that was bought for multimedia car kits ( the tumbler has paid for itself over and over in the saving of time ).
An update, most of the cab is assembled ~ time to prep the tricky brass sheet that mounts on top of the ribbed cab roof. The outer edges had to be folded down at 1.5mm. This sheet is embossed with tiny rivets so care is needed not to ruin the rivets or the fragile finish of the sheet.
Looking good. Nice smooth curves on the photo etch pieces as well.
cheers
Michael
This looks like an exquisite kit that deserves phenomenal work, and you’re doing it.
Thanks Gents, it is a well designed and manufactured kit.
Er, if this is to be the cargo version, should not the access doors in the sides be omitted? I remember seeing RAF versions with a plain “planked” body as it were.
(not to be a smart arse or anything!)
Every day a school day!
The cardo truck is about done, here are some outdoor pictures ( direct sunlight is the harshest judge of a scale model ) ~
Very nice ! Looks real .
