I always use grey.

Thanks again! I used black primer on a HMMWV kit and airbrushed the Mig-025 sand over it and it took 4 coats of the Mig to cover it. I also did the same with a grey primer and same thing. Might just be the Mig paint though. I am going to try a sand primer next time I airbrush sand.

I know you are looking for a straight out of bottle colour for the sand but you can see here what I did a few years ago, and I’m still pretty happy with the result and would use the same again.

Awesome work on that Challenger 2. Looks amazing! Thanks for sharing the mix ratios. I unfortunately barely have time to even paint straight from the bottle so taking time to mix and test multiple times is out of the question for me. I can only paint outdoors and we have long winters here so I have a very short window to paint.
