Group Build Title: Bugs!
Group Build Leader(s): @michaelsatin
Group Build Description: Any vehicle named or nicknamed after a bug (including spiders).
Event Details: I’ve noticed over time that a lot of airplanes, armored vehicles, ships, etc. are named after insects and spiders. I thought it would be a fun idea for a campign of those. Everything from the DH Mosquito to the German Wespe to the USS Hornet, including such subjects as the F/A-18 and Apollo 9’s LM Spider. Should be some interesting variety!
(Remember to click “Going” if you want to join the build!)
Completion Award: [add info about possible award badge here - see help threads for more info]
A Note about Awards: The following text is a reminder that in order for people participating and finishing their projects to receive a badge on their forum profile, they will need to provide their account username to the group build leader by the completion date of the build. The leader will then provide this list to the site admin who will bulk award the badges to those users who have finished the group build. If you don’t provide your username or finish the project on the timetable the leader has setup you will not be able to receive an award.

While the word “bug” is often used colloquially to mean any living creature with a lot of legs, this usage is technically incorrect no matter what stupid people put in their bad and wrong dictionaries. For example, spiders are arachnids, not insects, and so not bugs.
Is anything named after an animal from Class Arthropoda allowed-- insects, crustaceans, arachnids, centipedes, and millipedes?
Are vehicles that resemble an arthropod but do not have the name of one allowed?
Are vehicles with many legs based on livings things not from Earth allowed.
Are creature figures with many legs allowed, native to Earth or otherwise?
I’m actually aware that spiders are not insects, which is why I specifically added them in. The name “Bugs!” is meant to be humorous. I’m sorry if you didn’t get that. As for all the various unlikely possibilities you posit, give me an actual example and I’ll let you know what I think. But I believe that most members here will get where I’m coming from. If you feel that I’m being intellectually sloppy, feel free to sit this one out.

It’s fine. My humor obviously did not translate. It would have made a great science fiction campaign. Good luck to you and your participants.
I have an f-18 that needs building. End of the year would be a good time for it.
But I did just spend a little time investigating Wespe.
Sorry, we must have crossed wires. Love to have you in this one with whatever multi-limbed creature you want to build!

I’m thinking F-18 myself. I actually somehow accumulated two of the big Academy kits in the stash and I keep hearing them buzzing at me.

It was my bad. I should have added, “That was a joke.” I long ago lost count of how many times someone has punched, shoved, slapped, or threatened to shoot me because of my mouth. The obnoxious display of pedantry was intended as a Spock berating McCoy kinda thing, thus the raised eyebrow smiley face. I knew you intended military machines because your campaigns are always very focused on military history. My thought was that, if expended to include bug-like creatures and machines, this really would make a great science fiction campaign. Moving on…
Browsing my picture inventory, I have a Dragon Heuschrecke IVb, Dragon Hummel, Tamiya Wespe, and 1/72 Dragon Hummel that qualify. Maybe it is time to finally purchase a Bronco M22.
If fictional bug walkers qualify… Well… Then things get more interesting.

Dammit Spock, I’m a modeller, not an entomologist!
