Building GDR NVA

A good video that explains the MT-12. Note the massive backblast.

My God - that does go off with a wallop doesn’t it?

You mean recoil  Backblast is what happens when a rocket launcher or recoilless rifle is fired: the jet of burned propellant coming out the back. Though the MT-12 does not seem to be any safer than those to stand close to …

Don´t wanna be the tank standing opposite. The gun is smoothbore, firing APFSDS rounds and HE.

Some progress on my MT-12. I glued the trails to the axle and add the wheels of a D-30 gun.

Another gun model. Trumpeter D-30 convered to D-30A.

Carriage almost done.

Slow progress. Added the recoil cylinders, next will be the recoil protection for the gunner.

What I’m kind of wondering about, is why you bothered using kit parts for the trails

I am stuck with my MT12 build, so I decided to build something “easy”. Trumpeter “Russian NBC (late)” a.k.a. BRDM-2 Rkh. Iused also Foxhopp Model 3D printed turret and Def Model resin wheels.

That’s a very nice model you’re building. The Trumpeter kit is also well-made. I’m very excited to see your MTLB with the MT-12 anti-tank gun. Unfortunately, the MT-12 isn’t available as a kit. Near me (in Königsbrück) was a GSSD unit equipped with these vehicles. I feel the same way about the M-46 cannon as you; it’s also unavailable.

As a relaxing “inbetween” build. I broke out the SPW-50 PK. This will be the APC version, complementing my command and recovery models.

Headlight Guards from FC Modeltrend improve the build.
