Donald I’m building this too.

Do be careful about knocking the roadwheel axles as the joint to the torsion bar is prone to snapping, I found out after some of my 250/1 wheels decided to go their own way taking the stub axles with them I’d leave the wheels off till almost finished the build, on my current build I fitted the torsion bars but left the stub axles off for now.

Continuing on.

This is an extremely tight fit , I had to insert the rear bottom edge of the Transmission first and the fold in the rest while spreading the sides. I ended breaking off the short drive axle accidentally and left it off. You can’t see it anyway under the Pe parts.

Today I assembled the engine and installed the rear Decking.

I roughly assembled the engine, even though I am not going to install it in the kit, Maby I’ll clean it up and paint it as a stand alone Model. You can’t see much of it when it is installed.
As for the Rear Decking I couldn’t get it to fit when installing as the instructions so I installed the bottom as pictured then the Upper back part. It is easier this way.

Great progress Donald, keep going! This is an excellent build!

Coming on really well Donald yes. The engines tight, I cut the bell housing off, its out of sight anyway and obstructs the fitting and it helped. I havent yet decided whether to detail it up or have the upper engine hatches open so I’m still thinking if its worth the effort as there is very little else in the engine bay on the kit.

That’s why I think that I’ll do the engine as a stand alone Model like I did on the PAK Wagen

I am watching your progress. The gear box has broken my heart. My patience isn’t as good as yours plus I am getting too old. Eyesight fading and my left side is struggling after a big stroke. I worked really hard picking up buttons and putting them into a glass jar. Tip out and repeat. I can not hold thjings with mt left hand but that’s it. Good job it wasn’t the right side that was affected.

Keep up the great work. I’m currently going through Andy’s build as well.

Today I have the Radio Rack assembled, this is going to be a lot of fun painting.

This unit can be assembled with the Radio Covers on, stupid really , would you want to cover all that detail up ?

It does build up rather nicely.

The radio unit is almost a stand alone model in itself!

I am a Radio Amateur so I have experience of these radio sets. They used valves so they generated a lot of heat. There would have been vents on the side or back so I find it strange that there’s only covers for the front. Obviously they are for protection in a sand storm.

This is the casing of a typical set, the Mw.E.c.

There are no vents.

This is the most powerful set that I can find a photo of : the 30 watt transmitter.

Again, no vents.
