Thank you very much for the wonderful compliment. I’d also be curious to see what the response would be at an exhibition. But unfortunately, there’s nothing nearby here in southern Germany. Besides, the risk of transporting it without a crate is far too high. The diorama would be the size of a washing machine, and I wouldn’t have a car for that anyway. I’ll present one or two more works. At least there’s a forum for like-minded people. That at least exists; otherwise, the dioramas would just be my personal treasure. But—to be honest—if it weren’t for forums and the internet, I wouldn’t be half as motivated.

Some years ago, I saw a diorama of French Donjon for Elastolin Figuren. It was build by club of castle builders and it´s base size was about 2m by 2m.

Toy castle in 54mm scale. Would have been every boys dream in the 1970s

Some examples of “classic” Ritterburgen for Hausser Elastolin figures. The scale approx 4 cm.

Those were my childhood dreams. Bran Castle from Faller? €689 is a hefty price. I wouldn’t get that for a finished diorama, even after two years of construction, and it’s a limited edition of one piece. That’s why I don’t build for others…you never get back the time, effort, and brainpower you put into it.

So true of so many “hobbies” (obsessions?) where the value of one’s beloved creation is actually less than the cost of it’s parts, let alone the blood, sweat and tears involved in the process; I’m thinking of home-built custom and racing cars in particular. On the other hand there are acknowledged artists such as the Chapman brothers (Jake and Dinos) and Kris Kuksi who employ basic modeller skills (and “artisan” assistants) to create their very pricey stuff…

In my first castle model I painted the spot a little less aesthetically :winking_face_with_tongue:

LOL! It looks like the aftermath of an “All-You-Can-Eat” Curry Night; you know, the sort where you put a pack of Bog Rolls in the refrigerator before starting…

Frank, I checked my LHS and the price is “only” 600 Euros. But the box has the size of a Bierkasten. :slightly_smiling_face:

This diorama is larger. It measures approximately 74 x 65 cm with a height of 63 cm. I just measured it quickly.

Aber ich habe sehr lange für den Bau benötigt mit vielen Veränderungen während des Baus. Mit Pausen ungefähr 2 Jahre. Ich denke 6 Monate reine Bauzeit.

But I needed a long time for the construction with many changes during the build. With breaks, about 2 years. I think 6 months of pure construction time.
