Canadian C1 build questions

Now we’re talking. Nice work.

Just a quick one folks - and I’m thinking ahead here: would say, an accompanying M113 (or even a Lynx C & R) as part of a battlegroup say, still be present in the Canadian 3 colour camouflage paint scheme (a mix as I recall of black, a sort of pale green, and an olive) alongside a C1 Leo in the German Gelboliv?

I’m focussing on the Central Region in Europe say, mid 80s? I don’t wish to go beyond 1989.

@Richard50 …yes, my Leopard 1A2 was in the June 2015 issue (Issue 050) of Military Illustrated Modeller magazine.

@BootsDMS Brian…yes, the Canadian M113A1s would have been in the three colour scheme in the mid-1980s. The M113A2s with the EFTs could be seen in that scheme too until they went through rebuild and received the NATO scheme.

@Richard50 Richard…here is my Canadian Leopard C1 (early) diorama that you might have mentioned earlier in the conversation. It was based off of the last image…circa 1986 in Germany.

Outstanding! Thank you very much indeed Jason - I can see it al lin my mind’s eye; doesn’t mean it’ll get built any time soon though!

This image from the Tankograd booklet prompted the idea:

I think they’re in the NATO cam pattern but couldn’t quite tell, and this is ‘89 in any case; however, the mix of the earlier patterns is more attractive to me, not that I’ll be amassing as many vehicles as shown in the pic, but a C1, and M113 plus figures should all fit easily enough on my A3-sized bases, and add a little interest.

Anyway, thanks again; another project devised though obviously not yet built(!)

I have that issue, bought specifically as I recall, as a result of your article, Jason, and the Operation Cobra M4A 976) article. Your Leopard looks magnificent!

@BootsDMS That’s a U.S. M163 Vulcan beside the fourth Leopard C1. The second M113 is Canadian.

Yes indeed; I didn’t notice it at first but obviously gave me the idea; I then went off at a tangent - given the AD presence of the M163 - and thought of a deployed Blowpipe team. Just the job I thought!
