My project before Greifenstein Castle was Reussenstein Castle.
This was the first time I used a 3D printer for the “basic structure.” I like to combine the advantages of 3D printing with traditional craftsmanship. This means: the walls are covered and modeled with self-hardening modeling clay. Landscaping is done with Styrofoam, plaster, and a white glue/water/quartz sand mixture. Roofing and wood imitations are made of paper. While this model is more impressive in appearance, the detail is not as good as the 1:72 Greifenstein Castle, which I presented yesterday. With each model, you learn something new.
The base area is slightly smaller than that of Greifenstein Castle, measuring approximately 65 x 63 cm, and the height is 75 cm.
The fotos from the originals are fotos of my own…Screenshots of a video made with my DJI Drone
That is simply mind-blowing… We get some impressive dioramas posted here, but that is on a whole different level! (Well, on several levels actually… )
I thought it would be difficult to top Greifenstein but in the very next post you show us this! Magnificent.
Cheers,
M
Hello!
Lookin’ really good!
If I could have a request (I know I really can’t) I would like to suggest you build a dio of castle Frankenstein. You probably know it, if you don’t it has a railroad tunnel directly underneath it and the railroad line from Kaiserslautern to Neustadt/Weinstrasse runs through this tunnel.
Alles Gute und auf Wiederhoeren!

Mate……just Wow!!!
Given the size and scale of these models as well as the time to put them together, I’m concluding you’re either working full time on models or have an amazing work/life balance with superior time management skills. Or you’re 103 years old. How else can you get all this done to this level?!?
that’s truly amazing, where do you keep it in your house?
Now that is damn cool- an imposing set piece that is for sure- and I’m sure the actual castle was equally as grand in its heyday!
Simply stunning!
Extraordinary! Do you make these for yourself or also to sell?
Thank you very much. Only for myself. I would only get a fraction of what I put in.
Here are some pictures taken during the construction, of the figures, the crane from the back, and other details and perspectives.
Unbelievable… that this is a model and not a real castle…
Thanks for the praise.
Well…I’m well aware that there’s still room for improvement. It gets better each time. You learn a lot and hone your skills. Greifenstein Castle may be a smaller castle and not as impressive. However, the craftsmanship is significantly improved. You learn something from each job to do better next time.
Again Frank, a lovely piece of work! Also, the castle buildings and walks are really well done but your rock work is beautiful! Nice colouring and structure. Very true to life!
