Hello All,
I have never been interested in the Arado Ar 196 but apparently things change…and I am in the process of acquiring a 1/48 kit of the aircraft.
I’m seeking information on the type of catapult produced by HpH Models (HPH 480011R), what ships it was used on and any technical information (plans in 1/100 or larger would be awesome).
Too poor to buy the HpH kit so I’ll drive myself to the brink of insanity by trying to scratchbuild one.
Google hasn’t been particularly helpful.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Paul

What I have been able to find, is that there were several types of catapults. The listing of catapults on sea plane tenders lists catapults (all made by Heinkel) of 14,15, 18 and 20 tonnes:
Searching for Heinkel catapults (assuming that all catapults were made by them) gave me this page, for the civ ship S.S. Bremen. It has some nice pics. :

Further search led me to discover that the type of catapult generally used was FL 22, build by DKW, but designed by dr. Heinkel. Length also varied (that might explain the capacity) from ship to ship.
Some info can be found here (in German):
A rudimentary (small) drawing shows the different sizes:
I am afraid I didn’t find any plans thus far. But with this info you might be off to the correct direction.
Thanks for the info, a good starting point
