Even a blind hog can find an acorn once in a while.
Unfortunately, I have to deliver the sad news that I won’t be able to take part in this year’s EME.
My wife is having surgery on Friday before mass and I find myself unable to leave her alone.
Thats such a shame, but you gotta stick with SWMBO and make sure she is ok. Hope the surgery goes ok and she is on the mend soon.
Thank you Johnny, kind of you.
There are things in life that are more important than model building.
But not many.
There will be other shows and the Falcon and Death Star will always look superb and be award winners
That’s why we affectionately call them SWMBO. Wishing your wife a speedy recovery and good health. Take the registration money and buy her a dozen roses. There will be other shows.
Thanks Tom.
You two speak from my heart.
I second Matt’s advice.
Here’s another little reference.
The little bird has come into its cage.
It will stay there until the next exhibition. Then Jim was assigned his astromech.
Electronics work without problems.
Again, it looks superb. There’s not much I can add to everything that’s been said. You should definitely win a gold or even best of show for that. Nice job!
Thats a lovely display unit for it Jörg, makes a big difference and will really protect it as well.
Just awesome Jörg. I have been offline for a few weeks, but it was great to come back and now see this in all its glory. Simply a stunning masterpiece. Thank you for sharing your progress, it has been wonderful to be able to see this evolve piece by piece.
And for me it was wonderful to share all of this with such enthusiastic model building friends.
Thank you Guys.
Haven’t been to the forum for some time, so was eager to see how you’d progressed, (when I last read what you’d done it was just at the cockpit glazing stage) so I was blown away to see the Death Star diorama. Sat, as I am, in my Star Wars room, (with a few Star Trek, Battlestar and Babylon 5 interlopers) I can honestly say what you have done is on a par, if not better, than any of the expensive replicas by the likes of Gentle Giant, Sideshow, Kotobukiya et al. In fact, I’d say it’s actually a shame to put the Falcon in front of the Death Star surface because it hides some of your awesome work. the smallest comment I’d make is that to fully show both Falcon and Death Star, would it be possible to have the Falcon raised away from the surrounding surfaces? That way you’d be able to see both Falcon’s underside and Death Star better. I just think it’s a shame not to see any of your glorious work. One thing is for sure, you’ve done justice to one of the most iconic ships from one of the most iconic films in history, you should feel so proud of what you accomplished. Oh, I would say though, a lovely companion piece was made by Attakus a decade or so ago, and part of it is sat next to me here. Its a large scale, maybe 1/25 scale, Death Star Hall/Hangar. The part most appropriate to you though was the side of the Falcon, with interior, that went with it. I simply couldn’t buy the Falcon at the time, it was just too big, but I do have the part where Vader fights Obi-wan, and the metal figures that made up the set. Next to your Falcon it’s just look incredible. Here’s a link; Death Star diorama Milleniom Falcon and Final duel corridor
Wow what a great comment from someone sitting in a Star Wars room.
Which honour.
Yes, I often stand in front of my model and enjoy looking at it. And then I find myself looking at a slight angle under the Falcon to examine all the details of the Death Star surface.
Unfortunately, it is hopeless to equip the model with some kind of quick fastener. The angle at which the large falcon sits on the threaded rod creates a lot of leverage, which really tugs on the entire construction. And of course I don’t want the little bird to sail down at some point. There is also the display case that encloses the whole thing perfectly and it really takes a lot of effort just to close the whole thing.
Great, I didn’t even know these models. They look fantastic, price aside. Congratulations on having the hangar where the epic duel between good and evil took place.
It’s amazing how this film still captivates us old bones.
Thanks for the great words.
May the force be with us.
