'Charlie's Labyrinth' Operation Crimp - New kit now available

Morning all,

Latest Sculpt now available… ‘Charlie’s Labyrinth’ Operation Crimp, 1966.

This was something had in mind for ages and took some planning. A few notes on details. In reality there would be additional squad members close by above ground, however it was decided to keep the composition at two figures otherwise the scene would be enormous.

The troops depicted are from the 173rd Airborne Bde which played a key part in the operation.

The guy above ground is armed with an M16 E1 (with 3 prong suppressor) reflective of the current weapon used in 66. (173rd patches and E4 Rank)

As always I have run through smaller details with a former Recon Marine to make sure historically accurate. The tunnel rat is armed with a 45 and Fulton flashlight. Tunnel rats sometimes operated in pairs, and later during the war were also often roped. In the early years of the war many guys also went down alone, sometimes without their shirt. (The tunnel rats equipment / webbing would be close by which is off composition, in reality no doubt close to another squad member – I played with placing this above ground but it felt too much and detracted from the focal points)

The narrative of the scene is we have the tunnel rat investigating the entrance to the deeper tunnel, before a decision is made on the next course of action.

I decided on this occasion to texture the external ground walls of the cut out section rather than to leave blank and spray black, which I believe adds more interest to the subject as a whole. For those interested in the figures only, this option has now also been added.

Available in 1/35, 1/24 and 1/16 scales (For our international customers we are now offering free shipping over 100 Euro / $120)

this looks good but i think the tunnel entrance is a little big as the ones i saw were smaller.

i came across this larger version of a tunnel diorama on ebay.

Thats a standard flat ground tunnel entrance. This entrance to this one is more of a bunker style entrance similar to the one in the attached image, of which there were numerous.
