Chevy '65 Foose Impala

Lovely colours… and the inside looks really nice with the different contrasts.

I got the interior dropped in place last night and left it to cure.

With my morning coffee sorted today I got it sitting up on it’s feet, with all 4 sitting firmly on the ground

The lid is a tight fit but sits neatly, might do some adjustments to get it easier to open and close.

Still some small additions and detail painting to do in the engine bay.

Cheers, D

You know, this has happened to all of us at one time or another, We feel the pain.

I run 1/ 24th scale slotcars. I had a Camaro that I painted bright orange. I was finished with the car and ready to start racing. I use colored electrical tape strips on my bodies in a few stragitic locations so if it rolls over, the tape takes the damage and not the paint. On all of my previous cars the tape easily peals off and can be replaced keeping everything tidy. When I pulled off the tape on this car, it pulled off the clear coats and the top color coat. Fixed and repainted but you can still notice where the repair is.

It’s a miserable wet and windy day here today, all of those gardening jobs I had planned will just have to wait. What a shame !

Down to the home straight with this build, lot’s of odds and ends tasks.

Finished detailing the engine bay, heater hoses and battery (terminals and caps).

Oops, looking at this picture I can see I forgot to paint the cap on the clear coolant bottle. Oh well, almost finished detailing the engine bay

Assembled the front grille, install bumper and 6 x clear lenses.

Installed the rear bumper.

Installed the front grille assembly.

Started fitting chrome accessories, 2 x windscreen wipers, LHS door handle and LHS mirror mount. Detail painted badges.

Fiddly stuff but fun.

Looks like a 1/4 mile monster … :+1:

Well my first completion for 2024 is off the bench and in the display cabinet!

The end result isn’t exactly what I had in mind when I started, a few speed bumps along the way but none of them kit related. The problems I hit were paint related, my own fault. I highly recommend this kit, it goes together really well.

I have to take some decent photos at some stage, but it’s difficult to get a flat black finish dust free and under decent lights every tiny little speck stands out like the proverbial canine gonads.

Anyway, one more build crossed off the WIP list with 2 more very close behind it, and one big new project commenced, all-in-all a good start to the new year.
