As mentioned earlier, there has been growing aggro. from my other half with the growing stash mountain, so I will pick up some slack and show determination to reduce this.
Been buiding AFV on tracks consecutively and I want to make a break with tracks to wheels this time round. Hence I’ve picked out 2 Trumpeter kits that is similar in construction and painting, so it’ll be 2 boxes gone in one goal! The kits I’m building are the Jiefang CA-30 Military Truck and the HQ-2 Missile on Transport Trailer. Both vehicles share the same chasis for the truck and also I’ll paint them in the 1970’s/early 80’s PLA standard green colour.
I’ve built both kits before when they were released in year 2000, and so it should be a milk run and speedy build hopefully. Just cutting open the bags for the parts trees, as the kits has been in storage for god knows how long, there is a nasty mouldy whiff in the air and I have to let them to air out before really sitting down to get cracking. Will be back later with construction progress later on!

This is a trick that I use:
Many model boxes are much too big. In same cases two models can fit into one box.
Some model sprues take up a lot of space because they contain large parts or parts with smaller shapes sticking out in various directions. By carefully removing some parts and rearranging them in the box it is sometimes possible to reduce the volume.
After some work a whole box disappears from the stash. The plastic is still there but now She can’t se it anymore …

Thanks Uncle-Heavy, it’s a good idea and I’ll try out with large scale planes/armour kits with awkward shapes.

Just check the boxes and see how much empty space you can find.
Make sure your wife doesn’t see you doing it …

Some progress made on the chassis and engines. Been away from this skunkworks for sometime, and as this part of the model build is more painstaking and time consuming, hopefully it’ll speed up once we enter the cab/missile trailer stage.

Finally I managed to complete the Truck/Tractor of the 2 Jiefang CA-30. As said, for simplicity and ease of painting, I’ve painted them in the schemes of the 1984 National day military parade passing in front of the Gate of Heavenly Peace.
Will move onto the missile trailer/truck cargo body and update the progress.
