Civilian vehicles, Iraq 2003

I am planning a 1/72-scale diorama incorporating a Challenger 2 passing an abandoned car on a street in an Iraqi town during the 2003 conflict.
What would be an appropriate civilian vehicle for this setting? I am not aware of any kits, but perhaps there are diecast models that would fit in with this scale. I initially thought of Oxford Diecast, but these are scaled at 1/76, and clearly too small. Any thoughts?

I’m not going to be super helpful with make/models but there were minivans all over the place. I seem to recall they were Kias, which would make them Carnivals.

There were also tons of Kia Bongo trucks.

You probably couldn’t go wrong with 1990’s Toyota Corollas. I seem to think that’s what many of the orange and white taxis were.

Apache26,

Thanks for that useful information. Actually, I have opted for a BMW; evidently, these were quite common in Iraq at that time, and I have found a suitable diecast model that can be weathered and slightly damaged to replicate an abandoned vehicle at the roadside.

And finally - drum roll please…

I’m not sure both of the kits above include clear parts though…

Cararama/Hongwell has a wide range of “1/72 scale” diecast cars but you better check the actual scale of the model you’re looking for…

There’s even a '57 Bel Air from Kitahara (if you’re not on a budget…)
