Hi All,

I purchased the Tamiya M551 Sheridan Vietnam kit. The plan is to make it as a Reforger tank in the 1970s. I’d like to do a camouflaged tank. MASSTER or MERDC.

I’m not finding any camo versions with the triangle aggressor Reforger marking. Just a couple images with Blue markings but they are plain OD green. And just a few in winter whitewash with orange markings.

Anyway, the 1970s camo Sheridans I’m finding lack any Reforger markings. I can live without the Reforger markings but I prefer them.

I believe the Tamiya kit comes with the belly armor option. Did units leave off the belly armor in Germany?

Looking forward to this - not least as my own project is languishing, half-started. MASSTER or MERDC will look just fine I’m sure.

Hataka has a MASSTER paint set available and it is excellent paint.

Does AK Real Colors make a set of those Matt?

No, they only make the NATO 3 color.
But Hataka does it in lacquer so the paint is nearly identical.

I wonder if the new RFM Sheridan kit would be a better start?

Lifecolour also do a MERDC set of paints.I bought a set fair few years ago to use on M60s etc.I think the MERDC looks great on 1970s vechiles.Sometime id love to do an M551 and also an M60A2.

If I recall the Tamiya kit needs some updating to make it into a later vehicle?

Reforger 76 Sheridan I don’t think it’s what you’re looking for but maybe of some use :woozy_face:

The reviews I’ve been reading indicate the Tamiya kit is accurate for my time period. And it’s quite a bit cheaper than the new RFM kit. I’d like to get the TTS RFM kit but it’s OOP apparently.

That’s the RFM kit I’m referring to. It’s almost twice as much as the Tamiya kit.

That first set of figures is the plan. I ordered them. I also ordered the Fruil tracks. I usually display my stuff with vignettes or dios. I’m not sure what I’ll do here. Maybe at the range?
