Colors for things that go boom

Hey. Who makes a “modern” FS34087? (the spec was changed in68(?) to a more yellowish hue but FS # stayed the same) Modelmaster 1711, I remember was good. The ones (AK,Mig, Vallejo, etc.) I’m seeing look like the older ,brownish, version. I need to paint some current bombs, rocket pods. Ammo 20069 looks like a maybe. AK 11156 “Camo Green”?

Testors 1/4 oz square bottle enamel Olive Drab is pretty much the same as the Model Master 1711 color. They have an Olive Drab in their 1/4 oz acrylic sets, but that one is a bit more grayish in tone.

This is a subject that causes me no small amount of frustration. I appreciate all the research people have put into this but without a diagram I find it hard to keep track of what the correct armor and aircraft colors are given the changes of hue and tone over the years, often using the same color codes. And then there is the unreliability of old photographs and the ways in which a model paint company decides to interpret these colors. I’m surprised someone on this site hasn’t made a definitive (and living) guide to vehicle paint colors and the corresponding model paint companies.

I came across this website and I’ve been using it but I’m not sure it’s up to date in terms of model paint formulations.

I also use the website above as my primary reference when painting US vehicles.

Great references. BUT… does not answer the question. I know I need FS34087. The FS spec was changed 1968-ish . (cant find the reference for date) Color changed but FS number did not. The old spec was darker, browner hue. Newer is brighter , yellow hue. Most of the brands 34087 look like the older “recipe” . What paint manufacturers make the current 34087? Besides Modelmaster 1117.

No reference to FS34087. (not a MERDC color) I know what color I needed , FS34087. The Govt changed the “recipe” in 68 (?) No confusion about weathering, fading, lighting, etc. 2 color, same FS number. Most paint makers (Vallejo, Mig,AK) look to use the older spec. (I use this site , mostly for WW2 RAF colors.)
