Stencils applied and painting done - three stencils in all . Caterpillar at radiator top - D9R on rear sides of fuel tanks - and EARTHWORK logo on sides of hood . I put EARTHWORK on as homage to my late brother in law’s company . He and his wife ( my wife’s sister ) started the company from scratch and together built it into a highly successful endeavor.
The company kept growing even as my brother in law was battling liver cancer - he was pronounced terminal and given six months to live but thanks to a new infusion treatment he beat it for 13 years. My sister in law and their sons continued to successfully run the company after my brother in law passed away from other health issues .
They never operated a D9 but they did have a D6 and I got to play with it in their sand pit once . FUN !
Here it is with a race car they co sponsored.

and the model …

Working on base now - more to come.
Thanks for looking!

Calling this one done.
Final bits were the addition of photo etch wipers and base . The base is MDF/ Celluclay.
Model let in Celluclay - fine sand and some small rocks added - all cemented with AK sand /gravel cement. This stuff works great . Painted with acrylics and thin oil washes , dry brushed with lightened base color acrylic.

Here is a shot with a jeep to give an idea of how big these machines are…

… and with a WWII era D7…

The Model …

This was a fun project. I am mostly pleased with the outcome. Were I to do it again I would construct the cab in clear styrene and overlay it on the exterior with white styrene with glass areas cut out of the white. This would give a neater appearance of the glass fit . As previously stated I didn’t clean the interior glass well enough so wound up prying the door glass off to clean the interior. Not happy with the fit upon re installation of the glass but after three tries I’ll have to live with it .
Thanks all for the interest , suggestions, help and compliments.
Cheers - Richard

As an old dozer hand, I really love both of your Cats. Definetely shows the contrast between the old worn and the factory new, especially the tracks, which lost their paint fast. Fine job. Wayne

Thanks gents for the kind words and the interest all along - Matthew - is there a category for civil stuff in AMPS shows ?

No Richard, there is not. Its all military.

Could he not “enter” in category 17 display only?

Yes he could, but then it doesn’t get judged, and this model deserves a medal.

I agree they are deserving of awards in any contest he wants enter but it also gets the models on the table for others to view and talk about.

Very nice finish. Your builds are very informative with all of the documented problem solving. Also inspirational in the ‘go for it’ category for projects that are still just in my mind :bulb:
