M-SHORAD
Also a close anti-air system capable of acquiring and defeating helicopters and low-flying attack aircraft.
The Ukrainian Army would be more than happy to have this one.
C-UAS Stryker is different from M-SHORAD with its 30mm, 7.62mm COAX, and twin 4-shot Stinger pods.
C-UAS Stryker is designed for use against drone swarms. It has a laser beam, 30mm autocannon, 7.62mm COAX, and 4-shot 2.75" APKWS Arnold Defense Fletcher rocket launcher. Thus, the armament on C-UAS Stryker is cheaper than the $120,000-$150,000 price of a Stinger missile and Google says that it now costs $400,000 to replace a Stinger missile sent to Ukraine. An APKWS rocket cost around $30,000 each. The laser and bullets cost pennies to a few dollars per shot.
There now exists a 30mm autocannon with dual-feed chutes to load airbursting or high explosive dual purpose (anti-armor) rounds. I don’t know if C-UAS Stryker has this RWS.
I do hope that the US Army is wise enough to buy some C-UAS Strykers to complement the M-SHORAD Strykers.
