I don’t recall ever seeing an Israeli M10 Achilles with HVSS suspension. Is there a photo of this?

Maby I am building it that way, for I know the Israelis like to tinker with their Armor, by putting the HVSS on almost everything, so if they didn’t well just call this a what If.

Impressive surgery!

I know Academy did the tooling for AHHQ, but why oh why do Academy insist on putting square holes in the floor of all their tanks?

I thought it was Takom? Maybe I am misremembering.

Very interesting project. :+1:

Yeah, Takom.

Maybe too late to change but the reason why your idlers were having issues is because the VVS idlers and the HVSS idlers were specific for that type of suspension. Your HVSS idler mounts have remained on your Sherman and your VVS mounts have remained on your Achilles. To be ultra accurate, you would have swapped them too, I’m afraid

actually I have switched the whole rear Armor Plate with Idlers and mufflers. The achilles is a Diesel with its corresponding Exhaust I used the Diesel Exhaust on the Easy 8 Lower hull.

These are the Idler mounts and Exhaust that go with the Achilles.

This means nothing of course but I did find a drawing of one it seems. Pretty cool looking

The problem is, I don’t know if the HVSS tracks will actually fit with the backwards sloping M10 skirts. There are pictures of M10s with duckbill extensions, but this only equals +/- 20" wide track (16" track + 4" extensions), whereas HVSS track is 23" wide. Don’t think there is enough clearance based on photos, and even if there is, the fit would be so tight against the skirts that it would probably cause issues like mud buildup and wear on the end connectors.

The bottom skirts are a separate part, I’m planning on just leaving them off.

As for the Idlers they are a mixed bag and can’t be seen for the most part.
I just went with what I had in the parts boxes.

That’s some great modification.

Takom? I thought those floor holes were an Academy invention, like in their 1:35 kits. Is Takom taking lessons from them?

Yes, it seems Takom have stolen this ultra - secret, high technology molding feature from Academy. The purpose of this feature is still unknown, but it is headed for the international courts now.

Yeaaa I finally have something done, at least for a while.

I started this Build while waiting for the Jason Studio parts from Andy.
They came in the other day so this build will be on Hold for a while as I complete and install the Jason studio parts on the M113 Build.
I 'm finished for a while here, but I’ll be back.
