Cupola and Turret Door Color on Panzer IV D

I’m having trouble locating pictures of the interiors of the turret doors,and the split cupola hatches,what color would they be? Interior white,RAL 8000 like the outside color or Dark Gray?
I know the thinking that the white would be an aiming point for gunners or aircraft,but wouldnt the hatches and doors be buttoned up in combat anyway?

So which way would I go? Thanks

According to this guy, you should go number 1…

Butt yes, this was determined to be too much exposure and the color was changed to match the exterior color of the vehicle. Same for the cupola as well. I think he’s refilling the radiator if I were to guess.

From my pix, they started out elfinbein, then dunkelgrau. I’ve got pix of both in North Africa where they didn’t have time or last long enough to bother with painting the hatches. I don’t know if in Europe they did things differently.

Sorry, I was too busy composing my joke to answer your question. As DAKjunkie pointed out, they started out as Elfenbein, I should have some European pics as well that show this. Here’s a later model cupola hatch, unrestored.
