Saw the US armor and cavalry collection on July 11 2026 (so yesterday right now). Among other things, I was able to see the current state of HSTVL. Here are some reference photos and general images of the current state of HSTVL. (Please note I was unable to photos of the interior unfortunately)
Current state:
I spoke with several of the collections curators, and eventually the 2 people who run the collection and what I found was this: HSTVL is nearly intact. The autoloader is in great condition, as is the rest of the vehicle. Besides a suspension issue that has been plaguing the restoration, they’re basically just detailing and re-assembling it at this stage. It was also called a priority project by one curator. It might be displayed next year.
