Comd/loader on left. Same as Scimitar.
John,
Thanks … I take it you mean ‘left’ when looking forward.
Am I correct in thinking that it was the other side for the Scorpion?
Paul
Scorpion and Scimitar have the exact same turret, other than the gun and the stuff that goes with that. Which implies the optics will be on the same sides on both vehicles, and therefore the crew positions too.
Jakko,
Many thanks for the clarification.
Paul
When I say left or right side, it is as you said, if you are standing on the back decks looking forward. That’s the way I was always taught to refer to a vehicle if I reference it … So even if I look at a tank from the front I would always refer to the left side as if I on the rear decks looking forward …
TBH, is there anyone who doesn’t put it like that? Nobody says British cars are left-hand drive (“when you stand in front of it looking towards the car”) for example.
Probably off the point, but I seem to recall an all-female Fox crew back in the 1970s, one of those University student mobs.
What I did have photos of was a TA crewed Fox with a recruiting stall at a stock car meet on an old airfield which I went to. The last even as usual was a destruction derby for the survivors of earlier rounds who wouldn’t be going home and the announcers said they were throwing it open to anyone who had rocked up in some old banger and wanted it to go out in a blaze of glory. They were somewhat taken aback when the Fox lined up on the grid…
(They didn’t allow it to play, they found some regulation it infringed: possibly no armaments to be installed…)
Cheers,
M
