The SBD was a fantastic Navy Dive Bomber, but the A-24 was an unmitigated disaster. Primarily because the Army pilots didn’t train and were not interested in Dive bombing and 70 degree dives.

they were shot out of the sky over New Guinea and withdrawn from service as combat birds.
