I have both the Tamiya kit of the AMX-13 and the replacement barrel, but the latter seems awfully small. What is the story?
DEFDM35078? It specs as the 75mm barrel. Tamiya has never been wrong, have they?
I think they have been wrong plenty times.
Ironically enough I originally intended to build a 1960’s era AMX-13, but the Tamiya kit depicts the late version.
But then I discovered that a lot of older Indian Sherman tanks were retrofitted with the AMX-13 cannon. Would be a nice irony since they were up against newer American-made tanks.
If I remember correctly the DEF model barrel is correct. Some years ago I measured the 3 gun tubes mounted on the AMX13 (75,90 and 105) at Saumur.
The 75 mm barrel measures 3.33 m from where it inserts into the mantlet to the muzzle brake.

I seem to get the idea that the DEF Model barrel will not be a drop-in replacement, so if anyone has tried this please let me know what to do.
Looking at the rear of the both barrels it seems that inserting the DEF one into the Tamiya mantlet should be straightforward. Your only issue would be to get the muzzle brake perfectly horizontal as there is nothing to ensure it.
