Interesting that NATO had MBT 70.

I see German M48A3G
I see a US M60
I see a UK Chieftain
I see the French AMX
I see the pic of the “MBT-70”

The Panzer 70 is quite clearly an insert. The first public display of the Pz-70 was in Augsburg in 1967, one year before that 1968 film. Only 14 prototypes were made, and NONE participated (according to the Director and Curator of the Armor & Cavalry Collection on Fort Moore).

In fact, the KPz-70 shown had none of the usual NATO/REFORGER markings identifying it as friend or foe. And pics I have seen and recalled had the Balkenkreuz further aft on the turret. A few pictures show the right-side Balkenkreuz centered on the 20mm cupola bulge, not twisted around the cylinder. And if you look below, you’ll know the picture is reversed. The 20mm is on the LS of the turret.

So it appears that the MBT-70 (sic: should be a KPz-70) pic was cut-and-paste into the video. Backwards. Propaganda.

BTW- Absoluter Quatsch was dort gezeigt gesagt wurde (from a commentator to the video)
Meaning: “Absolute nonsense what was shown there and said.”

Yeah well, the DDR was not known for its accuracy in (state)journalism.
