Did the Germans supply cars and trucks to the Nationalists in the Spanish Civil War?

I’ve recently become interested in the forces fighting on both sides of the Spanish Civil War. I haven’t seen any photographic evidence of German soft skinned transport or supply vehicles used by the Spanish Nationalist forces. Does anyone know if there were VW Kubel Wagen, Opel Blitz or other German military transport vehicles supplied to the Spanish?

No Kubelwagens as those went into production after the SCW ended. The Opel was sent in some numbers. The rest I don’t have info on as I don’t know the finer details of the SCW.

im no expert but I can’t see how they would have missed the opportunity to supply such vehicles.

An excellent question, from a personal POV, as my own interests arent in tanks and such, but rather all the other vehicles that make up modern, mobile armies. Kinda contra-mainstream, I suppose, but if it has wheels as opposed to tracks, Im interested.

thanks

The Germans send to Spain the following vehicles:

  • Vomag DL-48.
  • Bussing Nag..
  • Sd.Ah,15.
  • Wanderer W-11.
  • Krupp L-2 H43 “Protze”.
  • Sanitätskraftwagen Phänomen Granit 25 H.

There were also Henschel 33, but I can¡t remember yet if they came under the Bär program after the Civil War.

If you are interested check this book Los Hombres de Von Thoma – El Ejercito Alemán en la Guerra de España (1936-39) from Ediciones Quirón.

Quite a lot of them . They actually sent most of the vehicles they had in service and a bunch of civilian models. No kubel though but even a single Vidal Tempo 1200 was sent as a present for a Spanish General. If you can find it there is also a nice reference book for all vehicles both sides used in some numbers:https://www.amazon.es/Motores-en-guerra-Atlas-Ilustrado/dp/8467718951

This is a very interesting subject considering that we know what tanks and planes were used in the war. Never thought about the soft skins though.
