Polar Lights Haunted Manor kit, The Grave Digger’s Demise.
Polar Lights 1/12 scale
Haunted Manor The Grave Robber’s Demise
Contents of two bags of parts. Assembly is easy and basic. A lot of seem lines to clean up on the figures but I didn’t work too hard because it was going to be in the dark anyway.
The lamp is just a blank to be painted after completion. I want to add an LED in mine with wires running through the bottom to a power source.
Cutting out the glass parts was quick. Not a lot of concern for perfection because it will be in the dark. Then drilled out the handle ring on top.
I thought the corpse half-figure needed a little more something to explain that it was still alive! I stretched sprue for hair
I have another Michael Myers, Halloween kits in the stash so I grabbed the prewired flickering LED set out of it for the lamp in this kit. The Halloween kit LED set is perfect for the Michael Myers kit because it will be in a painted Jack-o-lantern. It wasn’t the effect I was looking in an open frame lantern so I went bigger with a cheap, flickering LED tea candle.
Looking good so far and I like the clean up you have done.
Thanks for checking in and your comment. The only fit issues were where the digger’s arms attach to the torso. A quick dry fit - file - dry fit - file - glue solved that.
Great customizing on a unique kit. I haven’t even seen kits in this genre. It’s a cool scene and I love the additions to the lamp. It should be spooky!
The LED taken from the tea candle is a larger diameter. I enlarged the hole in the bottom of the lantern for this.
Then I soldered wires which will lead to the power supply.
A drop of hot glue between the leads so won’t touch when I’m roughing it into the model.
Test fit then black gaffer’s tape to block any light leaks.
Power supply are the two batteries that were included in the tea candle.
Test.
Thanks!
I think there are around 5 kits in this series. They are repops of old kits from the 1970’s
I have started taking a lot of interest in figures and bases being built regardless of genre as I have been picking up 1/16th scale resin figures at shows both boxed and unboxed. Most of these are Alpine offerings as I find they tend to go together very well and makes my life that little bit easier. by watching what others do of all skill levels I pick up the tricks and tips which are often hard to learn.
The hair is a great touch! Really brings out his eyes.
I’ve recently (past 3 years) been on a figure kick as well. So many figure projects on a back list in my head. And I have A LOT to learn
Thanks
Here is the quick build all finished. I’ve painted only parts and one side intended to be seen in the dark from one angle
Looks great.
They look outstanding! Love the sickly green color.
@Tank_1812 @SSGToms Thank you for the compliments
