Director leaving Bovington Tank Museum

I have just had an E-mail telling me of the departure of Richard Smith who was the Director of Bovington Tank museum. I am afraid I am pleased to see him leave as the museum has become less of a draw than it was due to switching from its core draw to turning a section over to toys and before that a supposed factory. This resulted in far less on display and its appeal loosing out to other museums in my opinion as I want to know about the vehicles, the people who operated them and where they were used. Now we have a museum with a small amount of its items on display and access to photograph them being very restricted. I hope his replacement has some better ideas on how to bring people through the doors on a regular basis rather than just special events.

Well, I hope the Board of trustees at Bovington will find someone new that will focus on preserving the historical aspect of the museum.
